2012 NCR M4 Preview

Performance purists, fans of two wheels of cosmetics and ease of engineering, has a new sacred cow. The RCN recently announced M4 has no body, powered by a two-valve air-cooled, Twin, weighs less than a MotoGP and produces a higher power to weight ratio of the Ducati 1198 SP.

As models of the NCR, the M4 is a collection of exotic materials and top-shelf components placed around a Ducati engine. The result is a performance motorcycle prices extreme and outrageous.

From a lattice type frame built in titanium tubes and weighs only 10.6 pounds, RCN added to the mixture of titanium, a crib and a lot of carbon fiber bits, including the fuel tank, air box, wings, BST wheels and covers various housings and brackets. The end result is a Ducati-style machine to tip the scales at an incredible 286 pounds (claimed) including oil and battery. The fuel tank contains 3.45 liters, bringing the total curb weight to 307 pounds.

Ohlins suspended M4 43mm inverted front fork and monoshock at the rear one. Both units are fully adjustable suspension and solid aluminum clamps provide a triple offset adjustment from 24 to 32 mm in increments of 2 mm. Dual Brembo 4-piston calipers gripping 300 mm radial racing rotors NCR wave front wheel with a single stroke piston Brembo 200 mm double wave functions of the rear brake rotor.

NCR provides a complete stainless steel exhaust system for the stock EVO engine Ducati 1100, fueling the M4 and produces a claimed 107 hp at 7,500 rpm and 84 lb-ft of torque, which creates a power to weight ratio of 0.35 hp per pound.

If these performance figures do not begin the process of salivation, NCR M4 has an evil twin brother, M4-One Shot. Visually similar to the standard M4, One Shot is a wealth of internal improvements to its air-cooled two-valve with a double ticket Stroker crankshaft, high compression forged pistons 102mm humpback displacement 100cc, titanium connecting rods, cylinders of usual and cams, heads, and carrying a slip clutch type dry. Externally Shot An engine has an engine oil cooler and NCR titanium screws.

The overall result of these changes is a decrease of eight pounds to 299 lbs wet. and an increase of 25 horsepower (a claimed 132 at a high 8700 rpm) and 21 lb-ft of torque (total requirement 105), One Shot with the power to weight ratio to 0.44 horsepower per pound. In comparison, an SP 1198 with a claimed 170 hp at crank and a weight of 412 pounds wet produces 0.41 hp per kilo.

Both M4 are equipped with Magneti Marelli traction control CPU, military and wiring quick connector interfaces. NCR provides a powerful laptop to tune the performance of M4. NCR mini-available full fairings and carbon fiber tail section, which can be replaced with original equipment in a few minutes.

Of course, all this beautiful Exotica hits a high price. Standard M4 lists $ 49,900, while the One Shot is in addition to 20K, $ 69,900 retail. Both models are currently in the approval of the U.S. market to Europe and other markets following.

NCR says the company aims to set new standards in simple, easy to design motorcycle.

"It's hard to describe what a 278-Pound, 1200cc streetbike like it because it's not like anything you've tried before," said NCR COO, Joe Ippoliti. "After walking in NCR M4 is difficult to judge a bike that weighs 100 to 150 pounds again, regardless of the amount of energy you can have."

Requests to ensure and confirm ride M4 One Shot Mr. Ippoliti allegations have already been delivered. Although we tend to agree with the 'light makes right "Maxim, not to replace ourselves riding the bicycle. If and when this happens, the purists MO will be the first to know.
