2010 KTM 1190 RC8R Review

I have dropped enough to lust Ducati over the years that I am skeptical about the competition from other European V-twin sports bike contender. How can a company compete with legendary racing history of Ducati, and artistic, sensuous design?

Well, KTM, long known for his intelligent off-road, do so by being different - mostly. A look at the 2010 KTM 1190 RC8R is all you need to know that it was not designed by an Italian. KTM is based in Austria (as a designer Gerald Kiska has worked with KTM since 1991) just one day riding on the Stelvio Pass in Italy, but there is no doubt KTM is not Italian Teutonic design language. Perhaps the RC8R distinctive design is the result of the location of Austria nestled between Italy and Germany: the cold, engineer focused on the German influence mixed with the romance of Latin Europe.

RC8R chiseled design creates a sense wherever it stops. If an F-117 stealth fighter crashed into a motorcycle factory, the RC8R would be the most likely outcome. Thin and angular, and wrapped with black paint, which seems invisible, though their escape radar qualities are questionable. Although few would describe the machine black and orange as "beautiful," we admire the value of the cash spent sporty design with bold form of origami. Opinions vary.

"Angular shapes and bold use of color combination of black, white and orange makes the MTI clear standout in the style of a liter class, perhaps rivaled only by the new BMW S1000RR," says the director Cramo, Pete Brissette.

"They say it's a thin line that separates genius to madness, and the RC8 is a fine line between the distinctive design of real disgust - you can choose," says Tom Roderick, MO guest rider and freelance journalist.

Like the Ducati, KTM superbike high-end is powered by a liquid-cooled V-Twin, although, again, is a little different. Her cylinders are 75 degrees instead of the traditional 90 degrees Duke of V for a more compact arrangement. The RC8-R is not done with 1148cc and 15 horsepower less than the claimed R 170 hp 10,250 rpm crankshaft made. The R has several high-tech features, such as titanium intake valves, a high 13.5:1 compression ratio and a low friction treatment of the life of his followers finger camshaft. A maximum torque of 90.7 lb-ft of Rotax engines is said to reach 8000 rpm. We found about 150 horsepower, driving the rear wheel when we were four times AMA Tuner of the Year Andrew belt test is the hypercycle.

Although the MTI to build their own structures, large chrome-molybdenum steel tube, acquires a high-end components from world leaders such as Brembo and Marchesini through the mountains of the Dolomites. Keihin fuel injection arrives in Japan.

Attitude Adjustment

We have whined for years about the lack of ergonomic adjustments on the bikes, a one-size-fits-all philosophy. In recent years we have been renting newly added features such as adjustable seat heights (BMW, Honda ST1300, Yamaha FJR, FZ6R) and foot controls (Suzuki GSX-R, Yamaha R1).

Well, KTM has increased with all the different ways to custom fit a RC8R its riders. Here is a list of
components to be resolved.

Front brake lever: almost everywhere, so no big bonus points.

Clutch: Surprisingly still not available in many modern bikes.

Control: The conversion of quasi-sport-tour-y racing bike is complete with four bolts and fewer minutes.

Seat: Not only the venue, but the cradle of all, changing the seat height from 31.7 to 32.5 inches in a matter of minutes.

Stool: A lot of legroom when set to its lowest position, but it is hard to drag. Virtually unlimited authority when in position.

Shifter: adjustable in length (3 positions), leverage and GP shift conversion.

The brake pedal: Nub adjustable in length by 3 points.

The height of the rear bodywork: An eccentric allows easy adjustment in a range of 12 mm.

Meters: displays the road or track, available in most of the couple to change the left clip-on. Road is set to display tripmeter, clock, fuel consumption, miles empty (the best and the worst), travel time and temperature. Track the timer setting screens on your lap speed, RPM and the duration of the race.

Ergonomic, much depends on how RC8R is set up (see box above). With the frame in its raised position and footrest down RC8 has more space than any Super Sport motorcycle. Riders will probably prefer the short rear section in the down position to a flat foot possible. With clip-ons in their environment seems high visions of one day 500-mile possible. A windshield provides up close but a lot of protection against the wind compared to other bikes in its class.

The forward V-Twin always fires up in less than a second, makes a quick staccato bark in the quiet engine (thanks, Erik Buell). Throttle response is instantaneous incredible exhibits minimal flywheel effect that the system rise and fall instantaneously. An LCD bar graph tachometer is located in the upper panel gauge technophile, but it is too small to be easily seen. Optimal gear change is made possible by a prominent shift light.

RC8R was introduced two seasons ago, but did not travel to America until the 2010 model year. Revisions to the original model is stiffer clutch springs for improved step 5 extra horsepower on tap. Remove the radial-mount clutch master cylinder is moderate, but we want the engagement point was not the end of its travel. Still, a broad commitment to AIDS in the region to launch high-speed, and gobs of low end and the steam is a front wheel off the ground before having the other side of the intersection.

But you need a set of experienced hands for smooth Katoom. A spring accelerator of light and negligible weight, flying conspire with intermittent fuel injection to conduct a Herky-jerky, if not manipulated, and the surge at low speeds while turning around the city.

"At the low end of the rev range, KTM was able to provide a smooth transition with little or no gas acceleration exciting area," says t-Rod. "This could be a problem with the injection of fuel or gas, even when there is almost no spring tension by turning the handle, which makes the application accelerator gently, a task even for an experienced rider. "

But during execution, the Twin is simply fascinating. A huge number of low-end torque to cause the front to go up easily in first gear, even if 50% of the gas. Bang, the first an edge to hold it upside down and the orange-crushing its rider, and the front wheel will rise again, but this time a little 'slower.

With the engine running just under 5000 rpm at 80 km / h roll-on power is incredible - it pulls so hard that I have repeatedly pressed the lever to gain access to another machine that n ' was not there, another reason we love the gear position indicators, and why we had a RC8.

The vibration of KTM V-Twin is more prominent than the 90 degrees of a Ducati double soft and perfect balance elementary and comes on the handlebars and footrests of the motor at different speeds. It is more sensitive than most objectionable. "Even if a rider can get used to the vibration produced by the KTM 75 degree V," says Pete, "the environment is much more than a Ducati 1198."

RC8s first transmission were reprimanded for below normal, while KTM has made several changes to internal transmission to improve the quality of parts for 2010 models. Change effort is light and accurate in most cases, despite the clutch upshifts sometimes but not always resist. Access to a stop neutral often frustrating.

When it's time to hit some winding roads, RC8R respond with agility of a previously unknown size liter V-Twin. A reduction in triple clamp offset 91mm paths increases to 97mm for better front-end feel, but the commission is set at a very steep 23.3 degrees. It handles very well, quickly and elegantly sparks when turning. "With RC8R is strong and precise control, you can change direction simply by a slight shift of his / her body," says multi-year test driver and all around good guy Kaming KB "I love to ride this bike. "

The RC8 cold with the help of WP shock absorbers, a subsidiary of KTM. A premium of 43 mm inverted fork is opened, and a coating of titanium-aluminum-nitride your slippers to contribute to a responsive ride. GT Premium Shock suspends the back of the RC and the stem end with low static friction TiAlN coating. The holder has three modes of adjustment (compression and rebound damping and spring preload), while the clash between the compression damping circuit in the high and low speed and higher ground clearance adjustment. An adjustable steering damper WP installation complete.

After delivery, the suspension is firm but relatively constant over the smooth roads of northern San Diego, but we felt the center was too steep when traveling on bumpy pavement. Too steep, too, a twisted Buttonwillow track with our light cavalry on board Raceway. Fortunately, the technology race Lenny Albin was the track, and some twists and turns of the key experts gave a quick tour much more consistent.

We have already said and we will repeat it: A good suspension set up can turn a vicious circle in Dreamboat, so be sure to spend time and / or money to get your number called your weight and riding style.

Suspension RC8R is burdened by a minimal amount of weight, as KTM has spent money to share light, where it is most important. RC8-cast aluminum wheels forged aluminum Marchesini wheels update since then. 6-inch rear is only 0.7 pounds lighter, but the front is a massive 1.6 kg lighter, and pay dividends to reduce steering effort and a better control of the suspension. Pirelli Diablo Super Corsa SP tires every 100 grams less than the level of professional RC8 Super Corsa on a regular basis, and the carbon fiber front fender to take out another 100 grams. KTM RC8R says the scales at 401 pounds without fuel, so we expect to weigh close to 430 pounds of its 4.3 liter tank full. It 'was an average of nearly 40 mpg in our hands.

Top-shelf brake parts also grace RC8R. Brembo radial cylinder to activate the wonderful one-piece calipers 320 mm is bitten, the latter slightly thicker than the RC8 is better dissipate heat faster to use. Angle of incidence is higher than the original amount of the trip than we are accustomed to such binders Ducati, but their absolute power has never been questioned.

A high-end feature is particularly in the absence of a slip clutch. If a Japanese 600cc sport may have, so if a $ 20,000 exotic European. This is especially true for high-compression V-Twin with an acceleration sensitive inertia and light.

In daily use, the RC8R has a split personality. The ergonomics and wind protection are enviable, and finely upholstered seat feels hard, but not entirely masochistic over long distances. Speaking of safety, we thought it was a bit slippery, especially when you wear jeans or pants textiles.

"Sculpture canyon or on the track, I noticed I had a tendency to slide forward on the seat in the tank, possibly to what appeared to be excessive weight on both hands," said Pete, adding that lowering the cradle may have solved the problem.

We want to RC8 mirrors turnsignals integrated fashion, but they were so passionate about them, when we locked arms back view, it is sometimes blurred. In this context, note the driver's gloves, the mirrors can be transmitted when the bars are activated and are in their upright position. And when we get to bitch, we complain a lot of heat from the radiator and the rear cylinder pipe, even if the insulation is wrapped on the collector. Finally, the sides of the plate RC8 seem susceptible to side winds.

Its an obvious glitch is its Jumpy throttle response, a situation aggravated when the road is bumpy. KTM press materials say "new mapping significantly improves the on / off throttle behavior," but there is still work to be done to soften the response. A gas tube-shaped cam will be mounted on all RC8R production that we have not tested, but should alleviate the problem somewhat. May also need a heavy flywheel and spring of the accelerator, or perhaps a re-FI remap.

2010 RC8R revenue demonstrates a renewed push by the Ministry of Commerce Streetbike have taken on the market. Taking into account the company's roots dirty off-road in the kingdom, the ability to specify RC8R striking the very breath of the legendary Ducati, a brand that produces the V-twin sport bikes for almost 40 years! Its innovative design, ergonomic adjustable is a leap forward, and can go up to the Ducati 1198 is a huge achievement.

The RC8R will retail for $ 19,998 when it hits U.S. dealers in February 2010. It's a big bump in the standard RC8 MSRP is $ 16.498, but in view of R is greater performance and functionality, it is a relative bargain. Easy for us to say.

2012 KTM XC Line Enduro Review

KTM has the widest range and endurance of the most diverse in the industry and will be further strengthened in 2012. Four-stroke models XCF are available in 250, 350, 450 and 500cc versions, while KTM continues to serve two die-hard time with the fans 150, 200, 250 and 300cc models XC. And most of the engines can be paired with a transmission ratio scale, identified by "W" designation.

KTM presented the enduro 2012 AMA National Enduro Inyan Kara Upton, Wyoming. And when we had the opportunity to make a quick assessment of the different models, we were able to choose our favorite KTM enduro race in the next day. Fun? Certainly!

All the wheels of the car is new and stronger hand guards, as well as a new project without the airbox intake facing forward, which promise to be water-resistant than previous models. Excel rims are used, are wrapped in Dunlop tires. WP forks have new seals to reduce stiction and improve the performance of small effects.

The 250cc and 300cc two-stroke XC get a new frame and swingarm, with a new non-linked PDS shock. The two birds also have a redesigned intake valve to boost torque and smooth power curve. The 300 also receives a new cylinder, and the two bikes share a new fuel tank 2.7 liters and more reliable electric starter

The XCFs four times received the most updates, 2012, from a new frame, swingarm and the link does not shock PDS with a revised rate increase. New cast iron clamps with 22 mm offset triple improve handling characteristics and flexion of the new image. All cases had four new engines that are more flexible than previous offerings, which means to give a little on impact rather than crack. The cooling system has been improved, with routing built into the chassis and new connectors. The 450 and 500 also come with electric fans.

The fuel injection is provided by the latest 42mm Keihin throttle bodies with an automatic temperature and altitude compensation.

The 250XCF receives a new engine specially adapted for traceability. The generator is now more powerful, and a new muffler and spark arresters keep the bike quiet and legally. The 350XCF get an Enduro engine-listening, and with a lower compression (13.5:1 vs. 12.3) than the motocross version to smooth the power band. It will also get a new brand new clutch diaphragm spring with adjustable spring preload, which is shared with the 450 and 500

Like the 250, was an improvement of 196 watts of electrical system and new fuel tank 2.5 liters. The new engine is supposed to 350F weighs only 62.8 pounds, including the kick starter and the exhaust flange! With improvements in the butt, size 350 to the revolution, the rev limiter set at 12 000 rpm. The six-speed transmission is "semi-close relationship," without large gaps that allow the seamless delivery of power. Valves of the new features guides the cam chain and chain tensioner waters simple ratchet system.

The new 500XCF are large, with a new SOHC engine, cast iron pan, multifunction balance shaft, in light of the stem Pankl. The engine 500 was designed to be reliable and easy to maintain, with the lowest possible weight and size.

All four-stroke engine XCF-W models California green sticker legal, and have forged a special equipment emissions. Closed-course racing, an authorized KTM dealer can make tuning changes.

It is the scoop of high technology. But what are they like to drive? Before going too far, I should mention that I'm 165 pounds with riding equipment, and the region we have done our pre-test was a combination of gravel soils and relatively rigid way and two-way broadband . Some things were consistent across the line, and excellent ergonomics, best-in-the-brakes business and a solid feel stronger together. All bikes have exhaust silencers, two traits do not come with a spark arrester and sold as "closed system" machines.

The 250XC-W twice feels exceptionally light and agile, especially if they are accustomed to riding a four-stroke. The gear ratios, clutch change and it worked very well as a fork. The rear suspension is appropriate, and the new framework in 2012 makes it a little better than last KTM stable. It was very fun to drive, and twice as fast power curve quickly made us and reminded us how fun it is to mount a smoker.

But the feeling quickly and fast, are too different things, and although the 250XC-W was smooth and pulled hard, yet he did it in a much shorter interval than the four-stroke engine. You are always aware of the fat in a two-stroke expansion chamber protrudes into the wind begging to get drunk. But is the life of a two-stroke. A narrow path with a strong rider 250XC-W flies, and it feels so light you just want to skip the logs and look for jumps. But to get sloppy and tired, and soon followed by the lazy four-stroke riders with envy.

The 300XC-W is the bike of the most popular line of KTM Canada, and for good reasons. Nothing makes the time in low-end torque of 300 - or even a four-stroke. It takes strong, too, and while the power curve is short compared with a kicker, the gear ratios and brightness of 300 to be a racing bike very well. You can be the most effective and versatile two-stroke ever built. Both KTM two strokes to thrive in "tug of war" situations in which its high stopping power, agility and quick bursts of acceleration when cornering really worthwhile. One thing is certain, the KTM two stone axes are reliable and have a loyal clientele.

The 250XCF-W was a mixed bag for us. It feels lighter, handles better at speed than the two shots, yet the suspension feels more solid and controlled. It can be chalked up to the silky smooth power band, which allows entire chassis relax instead of skitter around like a two-stroke. He shoots well, but not as hard as KTM motocross 250F or 250F MXer you have mounted in recent times.

In the tight, slippery conditions, 250XC-W would be ideal, but on a lot faster, you must work hard to keep your momentum. The clutch and gearbox is excellent, which is good because to maintain speed in the open sections, you will have to ride this bike very aggressive. We liked and it would be a good choice for smooth singletrack East, but the tracks fast and loose with our test site in Wyoming, it just make us work too hard.

The W-450XCF surprised us with a sense almost as agile as the W-250XCF. It is a good power, smooth, it never feels heavy or intimidation, and refers to loss or extinction of the flame. It was to inspire the confidence to travel, but the rear suspension feels a bit under-damped compared to the lighter, slower 250XCF-W. Like the rest of the KTM 2012, the WP fork is excellent. We really liked this bike, motorcycle and was the favorite until the time of day.

The 500XCF-W was a big improvement from the old 530. It feels smaller and lighter than its predecessor, with high torque that makes it easy to fly in the open sections or in the woods. This bike would play murderer! However, as a race bike that feels a little uncomfortable in the forest, and no rear suspension feels too soft for speeds this bike is capable of. We love walking all day, but the race? Perhaps if there had been six inches taller and gained 40 pounds. The W-cycle 500XCF was too little old for this writer.

We were able to ride all the races, "W" wide ratio transmission models with the exception of 150XC and 200XC-W, so the impressions that they have to wait until late.

That leaves us with ...

It 350XCF KTM-W. We have all read about the 350th We have heard people say that it was a slow 450, 250F or a cheater. Well, it's a bit of both of these things. It is physically easier than the 450 by just a few pounds. We set up slightly tuned 250F motocross that can work with him. The suspension is excellent and the average first place in the back. It's not exactly sound like a winning combination, but trust us, in the real world it is.

Of all the new KTM we go in Wyoming, the 350 is the one we like to have in our garage. It has become the benchmark for the rest of KTM for us, and we ended up asking for us is the KTM race the next day. But that's another story, so stay tuned for the complete test 350XCF 2012-W KTM race!

Rihanna's Ex says She's too Focused on her Career to Settle Down

First love: Rihanna pictured in an old photograph with first boyfriend Negus Sealy, a Bajan local

Rihanna's first ever boyfriend has told how no man stands a chance with her – because she’s way too busy to settle down. In an exclusive interview, 27-year-old Negus Sealy told how the S&M beauty considers him a close friend – but nothing more.

Opening up: Sealy broke his silence to speak about his intensely close relationship with the R&B beauty

Lucky Negus has been special friends with Riri, 23, for years and was recently seen romping with her at a carnival in Barbados earlier this year.

Throwing some moves: Negus was pictured romping with Rihanna at a carnival in Barbados this summer

But he accepts that like so many of other flings in recent years, there’s no chance of anything long-term.

Talking from his home in the Caribbean, Negus, 27, said: 'She would be the perfect girlfriend and of course I fancy her – what guy wouldn’t?

Good times: Rihanna was seen carrying around a plastic red cup throughout the celebrations

'She’s absolutely amazing and gorgeous and she has a very, very strong persona.

'I am so lucky to have spent so much time with her and will always consider her to be a closer personal friend.

'I value her so much because she has been pretty much been straight up and real with me from the beginning.'But right now she doesn’t have time for anything serious with any guy.'

Speaking over a locally brewed Banks beer, Negus told how he first met Rihanna at a party when she was 15 and they instantly hit it off.

What are you looking at? Rihanna's appearance was a far cry from that of your average farm hand with her denim crop top and scarlet lips

He said: 'We were introduced by a mutual friend. We shared the same sense of humour; she likes to laugh. I guess we pretty much took to each other’s character and it was just cool ever since then.'

Rude girl: Rihanna makes a rude gesture as she shoots the scenes

Negus said he immediately picked up there was something special about her. He said: 'I figured it was like a deeply embedded ambition in her to be a star – that’s what my first impression was, that she was actually destined to be something great.

'She never told me personally that she wanted to be a star but I could pick it up from her posture, her singing and how seriously she took everything.' The pair became inseparable and would hang out together on Barbados’s stunning white sandy beaches and go swimming and jet skiing together.

Negus recalled: 'We would just chill and have a good time. We go to the beach, party, just basic socialising. Then things would go from there.'

Rihanna – real name Robyn Fenty - left for America soon afterwards but the pair would keep in regular contact via phone, email and texts.

Smoking hot: Rihanna has a cigarette break while filming in Ireland

Negus told how their informal relationship means he's never actually had to take Rihanna on a formal date.

He said: 'It wasn’t necessary for me to ask her out on a date because we all (Rihanna and her local friends) hang out anyhow. We just get on well and go with it.' The long-haired Barbadian modestly played down his nickname the Love God too.

He said: 'When I saw it I was like this is preposterous. It became a joke and my friends would joke on it and call me that after it was written but I don't lure the local ladies in Bridgetown.'

And he admitted Rihanna even ribbed him about it.

'At first she joked about it as well but we don’t really talk about the whole Love God thing anymore,' he said.

On Rihanna’s trip to Barbados back in August she stayed in the stunning 'One Sandy Lane' condo complex – an extension of the famous luxury resort.

Towering over the stunning white beach and neon blue Caribbean sea – it was entirely at Rihanna’s disposal for her trip.

Revealing only he and one other friend were invited to stay over by Rihanna, Negus said: 'We all loved it. The set up was really nice, with a pool bar. It was just a real nice place to chill with a perfect view of the coast.

'It was just her close friends there, just a couple of us. It was a privilege but usually when she’s here we hang out and chill. She loves returning to Barbados to unwind and de-stress.'

Describing how it felt while he was dirty dancing with Rihanna at the annual Kadooment Day festival, Negus said: 'I don’t know how but photographers just have a habit of catching me at the worst times. Just my facial expression.

'People see a picture like this and think it’s just vulgarity or whatever but that’s how people in the Caribbean celebrate.

'Ladies from the Caribbean usually have a lot of rhythm and Rihanna’s no different. She’s a good dancer.'

Negus - who is currently trying to start his own advertising and promotions business  - also showed how protective he is of Rihanna and slammed Chris Brown for his horrific assault.

He said: 'It was quite horrible. It was terrible, I felt upset when that happened.'

Rihanna had even introduced her friend to Chris when he came to visit her in Barbados. Negus said: 'He seemed cool when I first met him. But what he did was wrong. 'I didn’t appreciate it much obviously because she’s a friend of mine but I think she’s moved on.'

Negus perks up when speaking about Rihanna’s Coming Home concert at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown on August 5. He said: 'It was even better than I anticipated, she was really good. It gave me goose bumps just to see how far she’s come. She always wanted to do it (perform in Barbados), the timing was right and she nailed it.

Mind on the job: Negus says Rihanna is too focused on her singing career to settle down with a man

'I love her eccentric, sexy performances. She’s young, vibrant and edgy. She is just relishing every moment of it.

Former flame: Rihanna with ex Chris Brown

'She’s propelled herself to superstardom in a few odd years and done something that no one in Barbados has ever done, no in the Caribbean has ever done in that space of time. 'Quite frankly I’m pretty proud just to be friends with her and I will always be here for her in Barbados.'
